I'm currently looking for a shot put coach for my 9 year old son, who has now significantly surpassed my meager abilities at coaching shot put.

If you have any recommendations, suggestions, or references for youth shot put coaches in my area they would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I live in Maryland but I maybe able to help you. I would recommend that you video tape your son throwing and post that. I willing to bet you will get about 1000 replys. My recommendation is at that age, tech and rules are very important. For example, get him in the habit of falling into the circle, instead of fouling. This is a very hard concept to teach at a later stage but if he is taught to fall on his butt and stay in the circle early he maybe able to do it later in his career. Get him to flick his wrist at the end of the throw. Those are just a couple of things that I would concentrate on.
