I'm having trouble with pole vault..I recently got new steps because my old ones were wrong. Now they are right and i'm vaulting better, but now i bend the pole, go up, and come straight back down. I don't even get far enough back to clear the crossbar. How do i fix this?

It sounds to me like several things could be happening. If your steps are right and you have not changed your grip height then you may need to drive in longer during the drive-swing phase. If you have moved up to a bigger pole you might need to move down a pole size or lower your grip. There are a lot of things that could have changed so your coach should take some video and evaluate your technique and any other changes you may have made.

What fishman4god said...but also some questions to answer:
1. What is your grip height vs what was your grip height?
2. Are you jumping off the runway or being pulled off the runway?
3. Is the pole a higher weight pole, less weight pole or same weight pole?
4. Is your run speed equal? Slower? Faster?
5. Why did you get new steps? What was "wrong" with the old ones?
6. Are you striding into your last step(s)?
...you have to look at what has changed beside the steps and why the steps you have now are "right". From there you can correct the problem.
As fishman4god said, either you need to lower your grip height, get a lighter pole, &./or run faster/drive more or a combination of these.
Hope this helps,
Dan
